6. Rigging

October 2024

Krapopolis S3 finally on Fox< I loved working on this show

I worked as team Lead and Senior Rigging Artist!

May 2024

I love this advert which I have recently participated as a Rigging Artist for The Kingdom of The Planet of The Apes and Krapopolis! #kingdomoftheplanetoftheapes #Krapopolis #Fox 😍 🐵

I have rigged Silva and Raka! Loved them! Here the link to it! https://pin.it/7EPx7Tvi8

Whenever I can, in my free time, I play a bit and build new rigs just for myself, just for fun and practicing new things!

This time, building Alice’s rig (another of my favorite Disney characters), I have taken a frame I liked from the original movie for posing it out and suddenly I was super curious to see how that pose would look from another perspective, and this is the result!

I had some much fun! Loved the process.

June 2023

I have chose Goliath of Gargoyles this time, I wanted to just practicing a bit of Constraints, Master controllers, and also some shadows.

I did 2 versions, the first one was with Two-Points Constraint nodes for the legs. I wasn’t able to move in Zdepth the different parts of them, I don’t know if that’s something common as I don’t usually use it, but to solve it I have added some handles with expressions that allowed me to do it ! So Great the use of expressions! I will do more research about that too.

I tried adding shadows in every piece of the rig, but they were causing lots of issues when moving in Z-depth even with the new handles.

Here  one of the poses I did for  testing the rig and also added some nodes for shadows and lights for final render.

And the second version was with  IK Skeleton. I liked much more this one! I didn’t have any issues at all moving pieces in  Zdepth and also I could add shadows in the rig  and no issues at all with it either.

I added a Master controller for turning Off and On the shadows in OpenGL view, but they are still visible in render view. Here a bit of IK Skeleton behavior and MC for shadows.

Cat Burglar Finally on Netflix!! .Is an interactive trivia toon that I had the chance to work as a Harmony Rigging Artist last year at Boulder Media within a fantastic Team. Was a challenging one and super proud that it looks fantastic!!

January 2021

Love Rigging and its processsuper enjoy it and I feel myself like one of those lucky persons that found the job which I love and I cannot say I’m working while doing it. It’s amazing!

I had the privilege to build the Rigs of  DC characters, like Harleen Quinzel, Raʼs al Ghul, among others, and rigging too for a feature film and currently for  2 TV Shows for Netflix. Unfortunately, I still have a lot of material from my works that I can’t share yet, but you can see down below some of them and also, personal things I do in my spare time, Just for fun, like Sleeping Beauty, one of my favorite characters!

DC Super Hero girls!
Finally the episode where I had the pleasure to make the rig of Harleen Quinzel is already on cartoon Network!!
#TheWarriorAndTheJester
I loved rigging her, is an amazing and funny character!

I didn’t find a Turnaround of Aurora so I did  a one by myself  and with the envelopes deformers I added some inbetweens. Here a little bit of the process!

I’m starting a short animation ( video down Below) I want to animate my favourite part when she is dancing in the woods, so I took some frames from the original movie as a reference. Just starting! ❤ (In the video I’m just going forward and backward with the same few frames I did until now, they need more work but wanted to share anyway as part of the process!!)

April 2021

I’m still making some small changes, but I posed Aurora out taking some frames from the original movie for trying the rig! And I liked it so far! And the most important thing I enjoyed like a child doing it! I also added an original GB from the movie.

She expresses  a lot with her hands so I made the palm with envelope deformers and the fingers with simple deformers and as far as I could see they are working Ok!

November 2020

I had the Opportunity in 2019 of doing the rig of Raʼs al Ghul for Dc Super Hero Girls Season 1!!. I loved it!! Such an Honor!  Is  Amazing when you can see the rigs with the Magic of the animators! You can Watch here an amazing part of the episode League of Shadows, with the 2 version of Raʼs al Ghul I did. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MiKew0keSM&t=5s

Very proud of being part of this great Team as a Rigger! I Loved the job, I loved the project! Amazing learnt from such a talented  riggers and Animators! Thanks! 🙂

I share Cartoon Network’s link

July-2019

In August 2018 I  had the great opportunity to participate in a Mentoring Program in Boulder Media in Rigging.

Stephen O´Keeffe was the Lead Toon Boom Rigger from the Company and I was so lucky to had  him as my Mentor helping me in this amazing  process. And Yess! Finally after several months learning I have achieved to work as a Rigging Artist in Boulder Media! I am Soooo Happy! 🙂

I can’t show almost anything about my job yet and because of that I rigged the next 2 characters in order to apply what im learning  from my Lead and colleagues .  Ivy girl and then Ramses.   These two character are not my designs. I  took them from internet in order to do these exercises just for learning purposes.  Im enjoying a lot the process.!! I love this job, I love doing it!   🙂 Is amazing when you can spend thousand of hours playing! Because even with tight deadlines I felt  was  not working, I  felt I was playing!

Ramses of Prince of Egypt.  Mostly envelope deformers!

Envelope Deformer Turnaroud and Master Controllers

Ivy girl from Warner, This turnround is done in envelope deformers too.

Just down below I share an Arm I did. Were 2 Arms from the Alladin´s Genie!

This was my second exercise! In this video I did a Power-puff girl only front view with autopatches, envelope deformation, etc.

Here, there is a really-extra-very-super …..simple animation  🙂 but I wanted to have an idea of what I was doing!  I had  so much fun doing it and was amazing learn how to do it from the beggining and then can move it!

In the next video I decided to do Pinkie Pie and try to memorize the process!  This is my last one and Is not finish yet. But You can see I have problems in some lines in where I used Cutters. Also Im not sure about the deformers in the hair. I need to try different ways to use the envelope deformations.

Im going to upload another video after some retakes, but is already possible  to watch the construction in the node view and  a little bit about how Im developing the character. 🙂

Just practicing with a piece o a Pony leg a little bit more about joints, autopatches , pivots , et

The next one was my first exercise. My mentor asked me to do an Arm with simple shapes and try to understand how the Cutter or Autopatches work , also the hierarchies, node view, pegs, tools, etc.

I decided to do the Professional Certification and Im so Happy  that I have passed the Exam! 🙂

After the Exam I could start with the Mentoring Program!
